It seems that fall has arrived a little early this year and you are in luck because a batch of awesome fall beers has landed at the Shop! We are tasting a handful of them out tonight from breweries around the country … and they showcase the variety available as the weather cools.
- Port City Oktoberfest: Their Oktoberfest is a traditional Märzen style lager, brewed entirely with German malts and hops. This beer is a brilliant amber with gently sweet flavors of crusty bread, leading to a clean, dry finish punctuated by just a touch of noble hops. Served in the ‘keller’ or ‘Zwickel’ style – unfiltered and completely naturally carbonated – it is full-on authentic. Oktoberfest is their fall seasonal. 5.5% ABV, 24 IBU
- Captain Lawrence Golden Delicious: There’s nothing quite like Mom’s apple pie…but I’m willing to bet this beer’s pretty darn close. An American Tripel, dry-hoped with Amarillo hop and aged in Apple Brandy oak barrels from one of this country’s oldest distilleries. The tropical aroma of the hops and the delicate apple aroma from the barrels are a perfect match. This beer should be enjoyed as either an aperitif or an after dinner drink on its own… but a slice of apple pie would work just as well. 10% ABV, 35 IBU
- Two Roads Roadsmary’s Baby Rum Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale: Roadsmary’s Baby is a traditional pumpkin ale with a Two Roads spin, it’s aged in rum barrels for added complexity and depth of flavor. The result is a smooth drinking ale with notes of pumpkin, spices, vanilla, oak and a touch of rum. Roadsmary’s Baby is their fall seasonal. 6.8% ABV
- The Bruery Midnight Autumn Maple: This variation on their fall seasonal is brewed with 15 lbs. of yams per barrel, maple syrup, vanilla, spices, and midnight wheat. This is the perfect beer for dark nights and for when the leaves are falling! Grab a bottle of this limited edition brew before it all goes … and pair it with roast turkey, sweet potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, and chocolate pumpkin pie! 9% ABV
