Tonight for our last beer tasting before Christmas, the Shop’s staff is going to highlight a handful of Christmas and Coffee beers that we don’t want you to miss before this weekend! Need caffeine hit while wrapping presents? Want to spice things up? Try one of these beers and you won’t be disappointed …

The Beers:

  • Two Roads Holiday Ale: Two Roads Holiday Ale is inspired by the little known Biere de Noel style, a subset of Biere de Garde, both of which originated on small farmhouse breweries in the north of France. Biere de Noel, which translates as “Christmas Beer,” tends to exhibit a more malty profile than a typical Biere de Garde. In its native France, this special type of ale is brewed by just a handful of small breweries and is only available for the few weeks leading up to Christmas. 7.3% ABV
  • Schlafly Double Bean Blonde: Just arrived for the season! Darkness and romance lurk beneath the golden exterior of this ale that combines the prominent flavors and aromas of coffee and the smooth richness of chocolate. Using simple malts and hops, the focus of this beer is on the Cocoa Nibs and French Roast Coffee. After fermentation, it rests of nibs sourced from Ghana—one of the world’s largest chocolate exporters. In the final stage of production, a cold coffee toddy is added made from filtered water and finely ground beans roasted by St. Louis’ own Kaldi’s Coffee and sourced directly from the Shiwanda Estate in Africa’s southeastern Tanzania. 6.3% ABV, 25 IBU
  • Dogfish Head Pennsylvania Tuxedo: This is the closest that Dogfish Head comes to Christmas … a spruce-infused pale ale that pays homage to the flannel-suited hunters and gatherers who dwell deep in the backcountry of north-central PA. Brewed in collaboration with family-run outdoor clothing company Woolrich, Pennsylvania Tuxedo is a sessionable concoction with a grassy citrus kick complemented by the resinous conifer notes of fresh green spruce tips. A dry yet doughy malt backbone lets the hops and spruce shine while still balancing out the bitterness, making this one an easy sipper. 8.5% ABV, 50 IBU
  • Two Roads Espressway Cold Brew Coffee Stout: In a process unique to Two Roads, they mix their rich oatmeal stout with a locally-roasted Ethiopian/Sumatra blend of beans under pressure (like espresso but without the steam) using our German-built “Brewnik” device. The mixture is steeped for several days resulting in a true, cold-brewed coffee stout. If you are a cold brew coffee fan, this is your beer, no questions asked! 6.5% ABV
  • Anchor Christmas Ale 2017: Only sold from early November until mid-January every year and brewed with a different recipe every year, this is a smooth and creamy winter warmer with rich flavors of cacao, toffee and roasted nuts, and subtle hints of honey and herbal spice. While this is the 43rd annual release of the brew, each year’s batch is done with the same intent: joy and celebration of the newness of life. Alongside the changing recipe, every year has a new label, check them out on Anchor’s website.

Plus, we may have a Christmas surprise on the tasting bar tonight! You will have to stop by to find out what it is …christmas and coffee
