First, let’s get this correct, there is no apostrophe in “Devils Backbone”. The brewery is named for a geographic feature surveyed by a party of forty that set out on 25 September 1746 to find “The Fairfax Line” that determined the extent of the Northern Neck land grant of Virginia. The journals of Thomas Lewis described the ordeals that occurred on this survey, including the dangers of Devils Backbone!
Today, Devils Backbone Brewing Company is built on a set of core values that include: Adventure, Passion, Integrity, Family, Humility, Stewardship, and Beer Positive.
