We are happy to have Flying Dog back behind the Tasting Bar with three seasonal/special release beers and one core offering that is something a little special (and one that you don’t see all that often around). Our old rep, Zach, is showing strong with his Brewhouse Rarity entry and then we have Flying Dog’s fall seasonals! Don’t miss out on these great limited release beers …

The Beers:

  • Brewhouse Rarity – Sunflower Pils: From Flying Dog’s website: “Sunflower Pilsner’s story doesn’t begin at our annual mountain retreat, where anyone on staff can pitch a Brewhouse Rarities beer concept. It actually begins at Catonsville High (go…Comets?), where our DC sales rep, Zach, first met his co-pitcher and our Baltimore sales rep, Carl. Reunited under the flag of Flying Dog, Zach and Carl brought their shared love for lazy summer days, Orioles baseball and reliving their glory days together in their Sunflower Pils. This 5.2% ABV Czech-style pilsner is brewed with pilsner malt and sunflower petals alongside the spicy and floral notes of Saaz hops.”
  • Dogtoberfest Marzen: Brewed with 100% German ingredients, this is a three-time GABF German-Style Marzen medal winner (2 Golds, 1 Bronze), that has the full-bodies caramel sweetness that you want from a Marzen while finishing with a lightly toasted and crisp, clean end. This is a beer that we can’t wait to pair with roast pork and mustard (aka Schweinebraten), sausages, or a great pretzel. 5.6% ABV, 30 IBU
  • St. Eadman Abbey Ale: This beer pays homage to Ralph Steadman, Flying Dog’s label artist for the past 22 years and the last of the original Gonzo visionaries left. He was introduced to Flying Dog founder George Stranahan by his longtime collaborator, Hunter S. Thompson and coined the phrase “Good Beer, No Shit” on his first work for us (for Road Dog Porter). Ralph has created over 50 labels for Flying Dog, ensuring fine art on every bottle that equals the liquid inside! This is a rich and complex beer that will pair well with strong foods like aged cheeses, spicy Mexican food, and rich desserts. 8.7% ABV, 25 IBU
  • The Fear Imperial Pumpkin Ale: Looking for pumpkin beer? Well, here’s one to satisfy that craving for a big pumpkin pie flavor, complete with plenty of spices, and loads of graham cracker and chocolate notes from the malts (including Midnight Wheat and Chocolate). Brewed with local pumpkin puree, this rich and slightly sweet imperial ale will pair nicely with any fall food (Hint: think about heavier, sweeter dishes) or spicier dishes. Conquer The Fear, grab a six-pack today! 9.0% ABV, 45 IBUflying dog
