South Street Brewery is Charlottesville’s longest-running brewery and pub! In 2014, it was purchased by Blue Mountain Brewery, whose owners have a deep connection to the brewery. Two of Blue Mountain’s founders—Mandi and Taylor Smack—both worked for South Street over a decade ago, Taylor having been the brewer from late 2001 until early 2007. Under the leadership of Blue Mountain, South Street is committing to maintaining and revitalizing itself as an important Charlottesville landmark and Central Virginia brewery. They will continue to offer the originals that they have been known for and develop new beers that reflect the diversity and experimentation that is at the heart of craft brewing. Today, we have both ends of that spectrum on our tasting bar!
- Barhopper IPA: A medium bodied pale amber IPA with a great mix of Simcoe, Cascade, Centennial, Azacca, and Falconer’s Flight hops. 6.8% ABV, 60 IBUs
- Hop Gothic Wheat DIPA: Don’t like NEIPA, but want something a little different. Try this wheat DIPA that contains both white and red wheat in the mash bill. Notes of crisp wheat and juicy hops for a crushable IPA! 8.52% ABV, 72 IBUs
- Satan’s Pony Amber Ale: A medium bodied and malt forward ale that hits the spot for colder winter nights. 5.3% ABV, 12 IBUs
- Anastasia’s Chocolate Fantasy Russian Imperial Stout: Roasty, toasty, dark chocolate, molasses, and plenty of caramel notes! This is a great hearty winter bottle to share with a special someone. 10.5% ABV, 37 IBU
